Bio
Dr. Vanessa R. Weaver is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She specializes in family medicine and Urgent care. Vanessa is a faculty member at 91做厙 at the SON. Vanessa is the Course Clinical Coordinator for Nursing Fundamental and Clinical Faculty for Adult Health 1 and Nursing Fundamentals. Vanessa began her career in nursing 25 years ago. Vanessa served on the Professional Staff Nurse Council, where she held the position of Chairperson for two terms (four years) during her seven years at Memorial Hermann the Woodlands. Vanessa graduated in May 2011 from Prairie View A&M University with a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. During her Pinning and Hooding Ceremony, she received the prestigious Faculty Award. In 2013, Vanessa became a National Black Nurse Practitioner Association (NBNPA) member. She was the organization’s secretary from 2014-2015. Vanessa was elected President of the organization in April 2015, which she held until 2018. She attended graduate school in 2014 at the University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Her Capstone project dealt with Diabetes Self-Management. The title is: “The Use of digital mobile technology to enhance self-management behaviors in patients with Type 2 diabetes”. As a result of her Capstone topic, she began assisting Healthy Interactions, the designers of the Conversation Mapp™, in improving their Digital Engagement Platform (DEP), a diabetes self-management application for patients to use on their smartphones, tablets, or computers. On May 5th, 2018, Dr. Weaver received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
She has been married to her husband, Cliff, for 22 years. They have three teenagers at home, two daughters and a son, ages 15 to 18. They also have 3 fur babies, Sir Greyson, Max, and Charlie.
