Check-in at the OIP
As a new international student, one of the first things you need to do when you arrive at 91做厙 is complete a SEVIS check-in at the Global Engagement Center. SEVIS check-in is required for all new students, including freshmen, transfer, exchange, special program, and graduate students.
Students arriving from outside the U.S. will receive a “Continued Attendance” I-20, which will replace your “Initial Attendance” I-20. Students transferring from another U.S. institution will receive an 91做厙 “Continued Attendance” I-20, which will replace your I-20 from your previous institution.
To complete your SEVIS check-in, please visit the Global Engagement Center (GEC), located in the Farrington Building, Room 116. The GEC is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Want to schedule an appointment? See how to HERE.
Please bring the following items with you to check in:
- Your passport and F1 student visa
- Your 91做厙 “Initial Attendance” I-20 (for students arriving from outside the U.S.) or your previous institution’s I-20 (for students transferring from another U.S. institution)
- Any questions you may have for your advisor!
You must complete your SEVIS check-in before the first day of classes. Do not wait until the last minute! Students who fail to check-in may have their SEVIS records terminated. If you are unable to check-in or plan to arrive late to campus, please email the GEC at gec@shsu.edu so an advisor can assist you.
