COHS Bridge Program

COHS Bridge Program 

The COHS Bridge Program was created to encourage the transition of junior and senior 91做厙 undergraduate students to pursue graduate programs. Students will be provided with faculty mentoring, research experience, meaningful outreach opportunities, social engagement, and academic preparation for graduate school. The COHS Bridge Program is a one-year program.


Student Eligibility

Students must apply to the Bridge Program. Admission to the Bridge Program involves a competitive selection process. Applicants to the Bridge Program must meet the following criteria to be considered for acceptance: 

  1. ≥60 completed credit hours, or junior/senior standing
  2. Majoring in a program from one of the four departments in the College of Health Sciences: Kinesiology, School of Nursing, Human Sciences, or Public Health
  3. Hold a minimum of a 3.0 GPA cumulative

Requirements

To apply to the COHS Bridge Program, students must provide the below information through Scholarship4Kats (). All completed applications must be submitted by January 27th, 2025.

  • A letter of recommendation from an 91做厙 faculty/staff member
  • Please provide your primary phone number.
  • Please provide your total family AGI

Please provide a response, in 300 words or less, to each of the following prompts:

  • Describe your family and educational background.
  • Describe your professional career goals.
  • Describe your research interests and provide any previous experience in research.
  • Identify two COHS faculty with whom you would like to work with a research project.
    Provide a rationale of why you chose each person.
  • What are your educational goals? Describe the graduate degree, and field of study, you would like to pursue and why.

Bridge Program Information

  • Award Amount

    The Bridge Program recipients are awarded a $2000 scholarship that will be split funded between the Fall and Spring semesters.

  • What will students do in this program?

    Students will be required to:

    • Attend all program meetings throughout the fall and spring semesters
    • Participate in a research project with their faculty mentor
    • Attend social outings with their Bridge cohort
    • Participate in community outreach and volunteer opportunities
