The Statistics program in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is dedicated to offering students a real-world educational experience focused on the decision-making process. The program offers a comprehensive array of courses spanning various areas in statistics and data science, complemented by extensive practical applications using leading software such as R, SAS, Python, and more. Through hands-on projects and experiential learning opportunities, students acquire both the practical competencies and theoretical insights needed to excel in analytical roles across different fields.
Bachelor of Science in Data Science
Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Data Science will receive an excellent foundation for opportunities that emphasize interdisciplinary perspectives, creativity, and innovation. These skills enable them to thrive in continuously evolving fields such as technology, finance, healthcare, biomedical sciences, engineering, business, and governmental services.
The program, housed in the Mathematics and Statistics Department, is an interdisciplinary program developed collaboratively with the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Economics and International Business. The BS in Data Science curriculum includes three tracks: the first continues as a statistics track, while the other two tracks branch out with emphasis in Computer Science and Economics, respectively.

Master of Science in Statistics and Data Science
The MS in Statistics and Data Science degree provides students with an outstanding foundation for developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, enabling them to successfully pursue industrial careers or doctoral studies. This program focuses on areas such as statistical theory and methods, statistical modeling, statistical learning, and data analysis.
The MS in Statistics and Data Science is a two year, 36-credit hour program with a practicum or thesis option. The degree program prepares qualified statisticians and data scientists for a wide range of career opportunities such as technology, finance, healthcare, biomedical, engineering, business, education, and governmental services. Additionally, it provides the necessary foundation to pursue doctoral degrees in Statistics and Data Science.
