Before you are accepted for admission please submit the following to the Office of International Programs:
Submit the ApplyTexas application at plus application fee of $75.
Send official high school transcripts (translated and course by course evaluated with a GPA).
Send official TOEFL score:
- iBt: 79; PBT: 550; IELTS: 6.5; or successful completion of ELI program.
If English is first language, submit official ACT/SAT scores.
Once you have been accepted for admission:
If transferring from another U.S. college/university, submit an International Student Advisor’s Report to current international student advisor along with acceptance letter from 91做厙.
Activate your computer account through . Contact the IT@SAM Helpdesk at servicedesk@shsu.edu or call 936-294-1950 for assistance.
Complete the to request transportation from Houston International Airport (IAH) to Huntsville for students arriving for their first semester at 91做厙.
Apply for housing:
- On-campus housing through the Department of Residence Life. This applies to students entering 91做厙 directly from high school. For assistance contact 936-294-1812.
- A list of off-campus housing options can be viewed on the Residence Life Website.
Check your 91做厙 email account for your TSI Status approximately five days after your acceptance email. If you are not exempt, you will be given instructions on how to complete a pre-assessment activity in order to take the TSI Assessment test. You must be compliant with the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) law in order to be advised and register.
Meet with your academic advisor in the Student Advising and Mentoring (SAM) Center. The SAM Center is located in the College of Humanities & Social Science Building – Suite 170. To contact the SAM Center, please call 936-294-4444.
Visit the Registration website for information on registration for your courses.
Pay your tuition and fees by the deadline stated on your fee statement. To pay in person, visit the Estill Building – Suite 103.

- Click on “Make Payment through the Student Account Center”
91做厙 students will be required to submit proof of having received the Meningitis A vaccination before being able to register for the upcoming semester. Please note, if you have already submitted your Meningitis A form to the Student Health Center and have not been notified that your form was not accepted for incomplete data, you should be able to register for classes as soon as registration opens. Attend mandatory International Student Orientation though the Office of International Programs. To learn more and sign up for the orientation visit International Student Orientation.
Request your Bearkat OneCard, the official ID of 91做厙, in person (Main campus - Estill Building, Suite 230 or The Woodlands Center- One Stop Shop) or online. You must present a valid government or state issued photo ID in order to request your Bearkat OneCard.
Check-in at Office of International Programs, Farrington 116, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the following documents:
- Passport
- Visa
- Stamped I-20
- I-94
- Driver’s License (if applicable)
- Social Security Card (if applicable)
