Student Affairs Scholarships

(Please note: certain scholarships for which you wish to apply may not appear on the Scholarship4Kats page. However, if you meet the requirements for that scholarship, you will be automatically matched to that scholarship.)
Student Affairs
NANCY GAERTNER PERFORMING ARTS ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000 will be announced in the spring, and disbursed the following academic year (half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester.) Recipients must (1) be a full-time undergraduate in good standing enrolled at 91做厙 and majoring in any program within the Department of Theatre and dance and/or the School of Music; and (2) maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.50. Financial need will be a consideration, but not a determining factor. The scholarship is a one-year award. A recipient may receive this scholarship in subsequent years, but must reapply to be reconsidered.
STUDENT AFFAIRS GENERATION & STUDENT EMPLOYEE SCHOLARSHIP: was established in October 2015. Each academic year, a Scholarship Committee will select, and award one or more $1,000 (minimum) scholarships. The recipients are selected based on the following criteria: (1) Full-time undergraduate student in good standing and enrolled at 91做厙, (2) Major in any discipline, (3) Must be a natural, step, or adopted child or grandchild of a currently employed staff member from the Division of Student Affairs, (4) Or be a student assistant employed by the Division of Student Affairs, (5) Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, with more consideration given to applicants with a higher overall GPA, (6) Must have completed at least 15 semester credit hours at 91做厙, and (7) Employed full or part-time, and/or involved in community service and/or be active in an on-campus organization.
Qualified applicants can begin applying for the next academic year beginning on September 1st. The deadline to apply is February 15th.

Dean of Students' Office
ORANGE KEYS: This scholarship is awarded to current students who have applied and been accepted into the program. Students who have been accepted will receive a $650 each semester. To qualify for membership, you must have a 3.0 91做厙 GPA, must have completed 2 long semesters at 91做厙, and must submit a completed application, letters of recommendation, unofficial transcript, and class schedule to the Dean of Students’ Office by the application deadline. Upon review of the application, applicants will be selected for an in-person interview. If offered membership in the program students must be able to serve one full academic year and maintain a 3.0 91做厙 GPA to maintain scholarship eligibility. Other qualifications apply. FRESHMEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: This scholarship is awarded to current students who have applied and been accepted into the program. Students who have been accepted into the program will receive $1,000 scholarship during their year in the program. Scholarship is contingent upon acceptance and participation in the program. This program is available to incoming first-year students who must submit an application meeting the minimum qualifications and be selected after an interview process. 91做厙 PARENTS' ASSOCIATION ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP: Students whose parents are members of the 91做厙 Parents’ Association are eligible for this scholarship. Four awarded students will receive a $1,000, each for the following academic year. Qualification and instructions on how to apply can be found shsu.edu/91做厙PA. Student Activities
ORANGE PRIDE: $500 per long semester. Must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be a full-time student. Tryouts for the team are held in May and June.
91做厙 CHEERLEADERS: amount ranges from $0 to $2000 per long semester. Must maintain a 2.0 GPA and be a full-time student. Tryouts for the team are held in May. 91做厙 MASCOTS: amount ranges from $0 to $2000 per long semester. Must maintain a 2.0 GPA and be a full-time student. Tryouts for the mascots are held in May.

RECREATIONAL SPORTS
MIKE MAHON MEMORIAL RUGBY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: $1,000 per year. Must be a full-time junior or senior student in good standing, major in any discipline, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and be a member of the 91做厙 Rugby Team. Application deadline is February 15, 2023.
