Resources

  • Condoms
    • Use a new condom every time you engage in sexual activity, including when you are switching between different types of sexual activity with the same partner.
    • Never use more than one condom at the same time.
    • Make sure you're using the right size condom. There is a right size for everyone.
    • If the condom is put on incorrectly, or it breaks, throw it away and replace it with a new condom immediately.
    • Store condoms in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
    • Do not keep condoms in your wallet. Over time, friction can degrade the quality of the condom, leaving it a higher risk of tearing.
    • Always dispose of condoms in the trash.
  • Dental Dam
    • Apply lube to the back of the dam (where contact is made with the skin) before lying it down to help it stay in place and increase sensation.
    • Only apply flavored lube to the front of the dental dam.
    • Dental dams are not meant to be stretched. You can just lay the dental dam over the area of contact.
  • Lubricant
    • Water-based lubricants are safe to be used with condoms and toys.
    • Lubricants containing glycerin are not recommended for use for people with vaginal sensitivity.
    • Do not use silicone-based lubricants with silicone toys.
    • Flavored lubricant is not recommended for internal use.
  • STI Testing

STI testing refers to medical tests used to detect sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in an individual. These tests can identify infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV. Testing methods include blood tests, urine tests, swabs of the genital area, or a physical exam, depending on the type of STI being tested for. Regular testing is crucial for maintaining sexual health and preventing the spread of infections.

Please call 936-294-1805 to set up a testing appointment or if you have any questions regarding testing.

      When should you test?
    • Unprotected sex: If you have had unprotected sex, or your contraceptive method failed, you should get tested.
    • New or multiple partners: If you have a new sexual partner or have had multiple partners, regular testing is recommended.
    • Symptoms of an STI: Symptoms like unusual discharge, sores, itching or pain during urination or sex warrant immediate testing.
    • Partner diagnosis: If a sexual partner has been diagnosed with an STI, get tested as soon as possible.
    • Routine checkups: Even without symptoms, regular STI screening is advised for sexually active individuals.
    • Healthcare provider recommendation: Follow your healthcare provider's advice based on yoru sexual activity and health history.
